Air Fryer Light Churros deliver a crisp cinnamon-sugar pastry with a tender center using far less oil than traditional fried churros. The air fryer creates golden ridges and a delicate crunch while keeping preparation simple.
1 cup water
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil for brushing
1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In a saucepan combine water, butter, sugar, and salt and heat until butter melts and mixture begins to simmer.
Add flour all at once and stir continuously until a thick dough forms and pulls away from the pan.
Transfer dough to a bowl and allow it to cool slightly.
Mix in eggs one at a time until the dough becomes smooth and glossy.
Place dough in a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
Preheat air fryer to 375°F and lightly grease the basket.
Pipe churro strips about 4 to 5 inches long into the basket.
Brush lightly with oil and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
Roll warm churros in cinnamon sugar before serving.
Pipe dough directly into the air fryer basket for best shape. Rolling the churros in cinnamon sugar while warm helps the coating stick evenly.
