A hearty, oven-baked casserole of seasoned ground beef patties, onions, and creamy gravy — inspired by Amish home cooking. Pure comfort in every bite.

Ingredients

  • lbs ground beef

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 medium onion, sliced

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom or chicken soup

  • ½ cup milk or beef broth

  • ¼ cup sour cream (optional)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

  • Optional base: 2–3 cups cooked egg noodles or thinly sliced potatoes

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish.

  • Mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire, and seasonings. Form into 6 oval patties.

  • Sear patties in a skillet for 2–3 minutes per side.

  • Arrange patties in the baking dish. Top with sliced onions.

  • Mix soup, milk (and sour cream if using). Pour over patties.

  • Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes.

  • If adding cheese, uncover and top with cheese. Bake another 10 minutes uncovered.
