A cheesy, crispy, one-pan dinner made with shredded chicken, tangy BBQ ranch sauce, and a golden tater tot topping. Simple, satisfying, and packed with flavor.
2½ cups cooked shredded chicken
1 cup barbecue sauce
⅓ cup ranch dressing or 2 tbsp ranch seasoning
½ cup sour cream or cream cheese
1 small onion, diced (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
Chopped green onions or parsley for garnish (optional)
Preheat oven to 400°F.
If using, sauté onion and garlic in a greased oven-safe skillet until soft (about 3–4 minutes).
Stir in chicken, barbecue sauce, ranch, and sour cream. Heat through.
Add 1 cup cheese and mix until smooth.
Arrange frozen tater tots in an even layer on top.
Bake 30–35 minutes until tots are crispy and filling is hot.
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top in final 5 minutes, if desired.
Let cool slightly, garnish, and serve warm.
