This Big Mac Tater Tot Casserole takes everything you love about a cheeseburger and bakes it into a warm, cheesy, crispy-topped dish. Juicy beef, creamy sauce, tangy pickles, and golden tater tots come together in this comfort food favorite.
1½ lbs ground beef (80/20)
1 small yellow onion, diced
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
1 cup Thousand Island dressing
¾ cup chopped dill pickles, divided
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a skillet, brown beef and onion over medium heat until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
Add garlic powder, salt, pepper, dressing, and half the pickles. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
Spread beef mixture into the baking dish. Top with 1½ cups cheese.
Arrange tater tots in an even layer on top.
Bake for 35–40 minutes until tots are golden and cheese is bubbling.
Add remaining pickles, drizzle with dressing, sprinkle remaining cheese, and sesame seeds. Bake 5 more minutes.
Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
