Bourbon Chicken is a sweet and savory skillet chicken dish glazed in a rich sauce made with soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and bourbon.
1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs cut into cubes
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
1/4 cup bourbon
1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
2 green onions sliced
1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
Toss chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook chicken in a single layer until browned and cooked through, then remove.
Add garlic and ginger to skillet and cook briefly.
Pour in bourbon and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes.
Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, vinegar, and broth.
Simmer 5 to 7 minutes.
Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
Return chicken to skillet and toss to coat.
Simmer 2 to 3 minutes until glazed.
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
