A hearty, family-style casserole layered with seasoned meatloaf, creamy mashed potatoes, and melty cheddar cheese — baked to bubbly perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • lbs ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • Optional: sour cream or cream cheese for mashed potatoes

  • Optional: parsley, paprika for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper.

  • Press mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 25–30 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, boil potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, and seasonings.

  • Remove meatloaf from oven, drain excess grease. Spread mashed potatoes evenly on top.

  • Sprinkle with shredded cheese. Bake another 15 minutes until bubbly.

  • Optional: broil for 2–3 minutes for a golden top. Let rest before serving.

Notes

Use ground turkey for a lighter version. Add chopped veggies to the meat mixture. Great for leftovers or make-ahead meals.
