A hearty one-skillet meal with crispy potatoes, savory ground beef, and melty cheese — comfort food at its easiest and most satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or sausage, turkey, etc.)

  • 3 medium potatoes, diced (Yukon or Russet)

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (optional)

  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • Optional: green onions, sour cream, or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add potatoes and cook 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender. Remove and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, cook ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat.

  • Add onion and garlic; cook 3–4 minutes until soft. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.

  • Return potatoes to skillet and mix well.

  • Sprinkle with cheese, cover, and cook 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted.

  • Garnish and serve hot.

Notes

Add peppers, spinach, or black beans for variety. Swap cheddar with pepper jack for a spicy version. Reheat leftovers on the stovetop for best texture.
