A crispy, buttery Italian garlic bread made with fresh garlic, herbs, and optional cheese. Perfect alongside pasta, soups, or grilled dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 34 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • ¼ tsp kosher salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Optional: ¼ cup grated Parmesan or ½ cup shredded mozzarella

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Mix butter, garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, and parsley in a small bowl until smooth.

  • Slice bread in half lengthwise or into thick slices.

  • Spread garlic butter mixture evenly over each piece.

  • Sprinkle with cheese if desired.

  • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes.

  • For extra crispiness, broil for 1–2 minutes, watching closely.

  • Slice and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use roasted garlic for a milder taste.

  • Make it vegan by using plant-based butter and cheese.

  • Can be frozen before baking for quick prep later.
