Italian Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes are saucy, cheesy sandwiches filled with seasoned ground beef in marinara sauce, topped with melted mozzarella, and served on crispy toasted garlic bread.
Garlic Bread:
4 hoagie or French rolls, halved
½ cup butter, softened
2–3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp parsley
Pinch of salt
Filling:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1½ cups marinara sauce
1 tbsp tomato paste
1½ tsp Italian seasoning
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings:
1 cup shredded mozzarella
¼ cup grated Parmesan
Preheat broiler. Mix butter, garlic, parsley, and salt. Spread on cut sides of rolls and broil 2–3 min until golden. Set aside.
In a skillet, sauté onion and garlic in oil. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
Stir in marinara, tomato paste, seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer 8–10 minutes.
Spoon beef mixture onto bottom half of toasted rolls. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
Optional: Broil 1–2 min until cheese melts. Add top halves and serve hot.
Use ground turkey or Italian sausage for variation. Freeze meat mixture up to 2 months. Add sautéed veggies or spice it up with hot sauce.
