Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
3 cups cooked white rice
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Cook rice according to package directions and keep warm.

  • In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes if using.

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.

  • Drain excess grease if necessary.

  • Reduce heat to medium and pour sauce over beef. Stir and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  • Spoon rice into bowls and top with beef mixture.

  • Garnish with green onions, shredded carrots, and sesame seeds before serving.
