Ingredients

12 ounces spaghetti or linguine
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 garlic cloves minced
1 tablespoon lemon zest
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves torn
1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook pasta until tender yet slightly firm.

  • Reserve 1/2 cup pasta cooking water before draining.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook garlic briefly until fragrant.

  • Add lemon zest and lemon juice to the skillet and stir gently.

  • Add cooked pasta and toss to coat.

  • Pour in a small amount of pasta water and sprinkle parmesan cheese.

  • Toss until the sauce becomes smooth and glossy.

  • Add fresh basil, season with salt and pepper, and serve warm.
