Tender chicken slow cooked in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce that thickens into a glossy glaze.

Ingredients

2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
4 cloves garlic minced
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
2 green onions sliced
1 teaspoon sesame seeds optional

Instructions

  • Place chicken thighs in the slow cooker.

  • Mix honey, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, vinegar, sesame oil, and pepper.

  • Pour sauce over the chicken.

  • Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours.

  • Remove the chicken and shred or slice it.

  • Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.

  • Stir the slurry into the slow cooker sauce.

  • Cook for another 10–15 minutes until thickened.

  • Return chicken to the sauce and coat evenly.

  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Chicken thighs stay especially tender during slow cooking. Add vegetables during the final stage of cooking if desired.
