1 pound boneless chicken thighs or breast, cut into strips
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, grated
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Mix soy sauce, sugar, hoisin, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, vinegar, cornstarch, and pepper.
  • Add chicken and marinate for at least 1 hour.
  • Thread chicken onto skewers.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Place skewers on a rack over a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway.
  • Brush with extra marinade and cook until slightly caramelized.
  • Rest briefly and serve warm.

Notes

Use chicken thighs for juicier results. Add chili for heat if desired.
